Conversion Beamer

I have been having too much fun playing with a techmarine with a conversion beamer lately. So much in fact that I decided that I better look into making one so that I can play all legal and stuff. Since the piece doesn't actually exist I used a few old model parts I had laying around.

The bulky metal part came from an old Necron metal destroyer, the arm is from a missle launcher marine, the boxy part of the weapon is from a vehicle missile launcher, The box with the line on the side of the missile launcher cam from one of the ammo boxes from a predator that I cut apart and finally the stock of the gun came from a plasma rifle. Throw on somw wires that I actually drilled into the plastic of the weapon and you have my conversion beamer.

The weapon is super fun to use in actual games too.

I will Terminate You!

I finally put together 6 terminators. the conversion work took way longer than expected but I am extremely happy with how the paint job turned out. Looking at them next to my librarian in terminator armor I am extremely surprised at just how much better my painting looks now. The colors are the same and all, but the lines all look much smoother and more controlled. I guess that is just something you have to learn through experience.

Here is the group shot of all six I painted. Now I just need to paint their land raider so that they can travel in style.

March 2, 2010

I painted up some Cygnar speed painting style over the weekend. 14 models in under 8 hours.

Ayanna and Holt the feared merc duo that might as well be Cygnar so I painted them in their colors.

Stormclad #2, Sentinel #2 and one of the new Cyclones. Pictures keep coming out light blue but they look more like the above pic in real life plus the highlights do not look anywhere near as drastic.

The new caster Kara and 2 Gun mage UAs (Go go new theme lists)

Did 6 mechanics too but they are so small my camera cannot seem to focus on them.

More Necrons for Adam

Adam . . . Come out and play . . .

Now Adam plays bugs, so I had to paint up a few of my own too.

Back to Base-ix, Necron Edition

I finally was able to track down the stuff I wanted to do my flying bases correctly. I bought som Knex magnet like lego things and replaced the plastick flight stand piece with them (the black piece) and based to match my army.

Then I bought the smallest metal screws I could find, pre drilled the already painted models (so they wouldn't crack) and screwed them in.

The effect worked out exactly as I wanted it too. I have to admit I got the idea from an article on Bell of lost souls a while back.

Cygnar finally Washed

I played Warmachine with Romeo this weekend. It made me realize just how bad some of those models that I bought look. Tonight I took wash to them (over 51 models) and man what a difference it made. They went from bad to, looks way good enough for me to play with now in less than 2 hours.

Hey Mike, remember how bad those stormknights looked? They looked so bad I couldn't even sell them and they were way too bright. A heavy wash later and I wouldn't sell them anymore. Now that they have "pre-made" warmachine lists with extra bonuses I plan on actually playing these guys.
