Ready for the painting competition
After a Friday night of painting and flocking the base is finally complete. I don't have a light box to kill the glare yet, but all in all the base came out better than I believed I could pull it off. I am extremely happy with the results.
The nice thing about only having to paint one model of something is that it allows you to mess around with extra detailing you would never want to do across an entire army. Instead of wasting a lot of time highlighting up his armor, I decided to keep the majority of the skin simply and instead make him pop by stippling on his head, and focusing on the highlighting of his carapace. The carapace is definitely washed out due to my light source, but on the real piece you can see a more complicate lining pattern that I washed with Leviathan Purple as I did with the rest of the model.

Salamander Land Raider
There is a tournament coming up that actually has a painting score. it finally motivated me to finish up those few random unpainted weapons and vehicle options. Of course it was also finally time to paint one of my two unpainted land raiders. I usually only play one anyway. I am really digging the Chapterhouse Studios conversion kit. The kit does come with cool Salamander looking gun turret covers but they do not fit on the weapon options as you see here. Still worth it as I just used them on my Twin Las Razorbacks instead.

Mercs Minis: USCR Team
I got sucked into another new game called mercs Minis. I love the smaller squad sizes in this game. So far there are four "factions" the USCR is based on Russia. They are slow but bring some heavy firepower and cool snaring abilities into the mix. Bear with me. I don't have a lightbox and these guys look way better and way more red in person.
The Behemoth is the main firepower of the Unit. He is currently the only unit in the game that does not have to basically wait a turn to go onto overwatch and blaze away at anything that moves, but he is slow.
Monkeywrench can fix their armor suits should a sniper or well placed grenade take them down. While I like the model, his other team members seem much cooler fluff and ability wise. I have a feeling he might turn into a must have to keep the Behemoth alive though.
You've got to love a Medic who is more concerned with shooting that posing ready to stick a needle in something. I find his bonus to shotting very alluring.
While I love the gaming concept of the Booster (shoots combat enhancement drugs into your units) this is my least favorite model of the entire range. It doesn't have the cool helmet, the hand under the gun looks like it was put on upside down even though it is a one piece model, and I just really don't get what it is trying to do with his leg. This model is extremely unstable and was a pain to paint due to it's balance. I am worried that this model will fall over a lot during play.
Sniper's are cool. Sniper's with harpoon guns that can fire every turn and literally stick people in place is even cooler.
The Assault Leader, is normally an important unit for any team. This guy comes with a pistol that can shoot out 3 freezing grenades per game. You guessed it, they stick you into place and that is pretty cool in my book.
